Celebrating life

We are approaching six months since the first case of covid-19 was reported in the country. The effects of the pandemic weigh heavily on ordinary Kenyans but I would like to set aside this month to simply celebrate the gift of life amid the unique struggles that many of us are experiencing.

Fading

The gnawing  fear of walking into a room and not being seen, of speaking and not being heard…

I dreaded turning 40 after reading many articles which said that women become invisible after 40. Some call it the invisible woman syndrome.

Happily, this is turning out to be the most fulfilling decade of my life.  Perceived societal pressures to reach specific milestones by a given age have eased and I am free to live my life as I choose. I have embarked on an exciting inward journey of self-discovery and no longer look outside myself for validation.
